Another abstract piece for you today, seeing as they've been going down so well. This piece started out as a charcoal sketch in my sketchbook, drawn when I was feeling, well, let's just say 'not entirely happy' and leave it at that, eh? Here's a scan of that original charcoal sketch:
I really liked the sketch and felt like I wanted to take it further, so I painted this in acrylics on a box canvas, to really try and capture my feelings at the time. I decided to call it 'Hello'. Here's a photograph:
When it was done, I simply didn't feel like I'd worked through this piece as much as I'd liked, so I decided to paint a companion piece, reversing the colours, called 'Goodbye'. Here's a photograph of the second painting:
Having created this evocative (for me, anyway) diptych, I decided to call the piece as a whole 'A Two Note Song Of Rage'. Here's a composite of the image as a whole:
This piece was so deeply personal to me that I was quite surprised that it ended up being so well received when I exhibited it. It was featured in a local newspaper and was actually bought by a movie production company for use in an upcoming film. To say I'm quite proud of that would be something of an understatement.
