I've spent a good part of this morning creating a promotional image for the Black 'N' Beard Radio show, upon which I once appeared as a guest (and even got to torture the audience with my choice of music for a while! BWAHAHAHAHA)! The image features the titular Mr. James Black himself (on the right) and his co-host Mr. Brad Harmer (on the left... but I'm sure you worked that out for yourself). It is an awesome radio show featuring a great selection of heavy metal in all its forms, both old and new, as well as some very funny banter and a selection of special guests from time-to-time! The first stage of creating this image was to do a pencil sketch of the two gents in their most 'metal' poses:
I then scanned this sketch into Photoshop and digitally inked it and painted in some shading and the freaky red eyes:
The final stage involved compositing in a photographic element for the background (provided by My Lovely Fiancée™ and used with her kind permission) and creating some digital flames and digital lightning to make these guys look like the Gods Of Metal they truly are:
